A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a car after being caught by a police dog.

The 24-year-old man, from Moreton was detained by a police dog in Moreton in Marsh on Friday (May 4).

Officers were responding to a report of suspected vehicle theft in the London Road area where five men, all wearing hoods, were seen running from Primrose Court to a silver coloured car which then sped off.

The car then stopped in Redesdale Court where the men got out and made off towards the fire station, before separating.

The police dog, working with a team of officers, successfully detained one of the suspects.

The 24-year-old, who is local, was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of class B drugs and is currently in custody awaiting questioning.

Investigating officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed any of suspicious activity in Moreton in Marsh this morning, especially before 2.45am when the incident was reported, or has any information about the people involved.
