A VOLUNTEER-run community radio station based in the north Cotswolds held a special fundraising marathon broadcast.

Rich Whincup broadcast live from the Chipping Campden studios of North Cotswold Community Radio for 24 hours.

The marathon broadcast ran from 2pm on Saturday, August 4, to 2pm on Sunday, August 5.

Mr Whincup's boys Tommo and Luke were involved with the event, as well as other family and friends, with the radio show raising money for Kate’s Home Nursing, Acorns Children’s Hospice and Shelter.

The show featured smaller shows within it such as the Breakfast Show, the Gentleman’s Hour, the Mobile Disco, the Smooth Hour and the Night Shift.

The show was a huge success, with people listening around the clock, with even some people streaming the show at 4am.

Mr Whincup said “We are so grateful to everyone who listened, donated and sponsored.

"As a stammerer who controls his speech it’s the most demanding thing I have done.

"To exceed our target and raise over £2,000 for the charities made it doubly worthwhile.

"A special thanks to the team at NCCR, they were backing us all the way. The togetherness and support was incredible.”
