LEDBURY Art Society (LAS) will celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, and will hold exhibitions in the Weavers Gallery in Church Lane, in both June and November.

Members will also be marking another anniversary this year: the centenary anniversary of the end of the First World War.

The June exhibition will run from the June 4 to June 10 and will be open as part of the Community Day celebrations.

A spokesman said: "The Society will also be showing a variety of its works as part of the town’s commemoration of the First World War Armistice.

"We are a ‘not for profit’ organisation which seeks to share its love of art with the local community. The Society welcomes artists working in all mediums including watercolour, acrylic, oil, pastel, pencil, charcoal and other crafts."

LAS is a member of the Society for All Artists (SAA) and holds demonstrations by renowned artists on the first Tuesday of the month at the Trinity Parish Hall, New Street.

The spokesman added: "Members recently organised a visit to the International Watercolour Masters exhibition at Weston Park which proved to be an enjoyable and inspiring outing.

"Ledbury Art Society is a thriving and friendly Society that welcomes and encourages new members. Its demonstrations and workshops are aimed at educating and developing individual techniques whilst hopefully inspiring members to try other mediums and experiment with different styles. It caters for the beginner to the exhibiting artist and aims to encourage and help members to improve."

New faces will always be made welcome at LAS events.
