PETER Beadle’s dismissal certainly caught many on the hop.

Even some of Hereford FC’s senior staff knew nothing of the sacking while many of the players found the news out on social media.

It hardly seems the right way to deal with a manager who has brought three promotions in as many seasons and a trip to Wembley.

In fact Beadle’s win percentage must have been among the highest of any manager operating within professional – and semi professional – British football.

But, despite the great results, the manager was not as popular as many outsiders would necessarily assume.

His treatment of local lad and club captain Joel Edwards certainly had many questioning his methods but, as many managers know, you get no points for being nice – and the success on the pitch certainly made him a favourite with the majority of supporters.

But it is now clear that the admiration was not as keenly felt from within the Edgar Street board room.

Those who ended Beadle’s time with the Bulls certainly were not impressed when he publicly expressed his disappointment with the budget he was given to battle it out in the National League North.

But this is an issue which strikes a chord with all Bulls fans who rightly ask why their side, which attracts the third highest attendance in the league, cannot match the ‘on-field’ budgets of smaller rivals.
