DEDICATED volunteers from a Wyre Forest rescue service came to the aid of paramedics and motorists caught up in the heavy snow.

SARA (Severn Area Rescue Association) Wyre Forest Station were called into action across Worcestershire, Dudley, Herefordshire and Shropshire from the early hours of Sunday morning until the following evening.

They were asked to respond by West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) because of their 4x4 capabilities and their efforts saw them come to the aid of many people across SARA’s operational region.

Katie Harris team co-ordinator for SARA during Sunday said “The team worked hard responding to a number of incidents including the transportation of WMAS staff members to and from their place of work, recovery of an ambulance stuck in snow, assisting motorists they came across en-route and responding to emergency calls.”

Crew members stood down from WMAS response on Monday evening and returned to their families.
