WORCESTER is a city packed with fantastic things to do and places to explore.

Packed with history, museums, galleries and family-friendly destinations, the city boasts something for everyone.

But what are the most popular destinations for visitors to explore?

We consulted TripAdvisor, one of the world's leading travel sites, to find out which Worcester attractions make the public's top 10.

1. Worcester Cathedral

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the city's stunning cathedral comes top of the pile.

The centuries-old building, home to the tombs of King John and Prince Arthur, is a destination of national significance, and was named one of the country's top 10 tourist attractions in a survey earlier this year.

2. Worcester Woods Country Park

Comprising two nature reserves, a huge open field, the busy Countryside Centre with cafe facilities and an adventure play area, the site is a hugely popular destination for a family day out.

3. Gheluvelt Park

Recently winning the coveted TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for the second time, Gheluvelt Park, in Barbourne, is a beautiful park in its own right and also home to the city's popular splashpad – perfect for cooling off on a summer's day. The park also hosts the Worcester Show each year.

4. Greyfriars House and Gardens

The Medieval merchants house and walled garden, nestled in Friar Street, is owned by the National Trust and is a fascinating place to explore, packed with curios from a collection of painted doorstops to six working antique clocks made right here in Worcester.

5. Tudor House

Tudor House Museum, in Friar Street, is based in a mid-1500s, Grade II listed building and has since 2004 been run by the volunteers of the Worcester Heritage and Amenity Trust group of volunteers.

It has grown over the past 13 years, gradually increasing its opening hours, events programme and visitor numbers and now attracts more than 15,000 visitors a year.

It has recently been nominated for a national award because of its friendly and welcoming attitude to children and families.

6. Museum of Royal Worcester

The ceramics museum is located in the Royal Worcester porcelain factory's former site in Severn Street, and holds the largest collection of Worcester porcelain in the world.

It recently teamed up with fashion brand Oasis to transform a collection of iconic hand painted prints once used for Worcester Porcelain into a collection of pretty dresses, skirts and trousers.

7. Worcester Guildhall

The city's seat of power, the Guildhall is where the city council conducts its important business.

Dating back to 1721, Worcester’s Guildhall has a fascinating history – it was once the seat of justice for the city and even housed a prison.

8. Sixways Stadium

Home to the Worcester Warriors rugby club, who are gearing up for another campaign in the Aviva Premiership and boast international stars like Ben Te'o, currently starring for the British and Irish Lions, among their ranks. The stadium is also preparing to welcome a big star from the world of music, with Canadian rocker Brian Adams performing there next month.

9. Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum

Housed in a beautiful Victorian building in Foregate Street, in the heart of Worcester, the museum was founded in 1833 by members of the Worcestershire Natural History Society. Among the exhibitions currently on display is Celebrity, a star-studded collection including Marilyn Monroe's little black dress, Michael Jackson's jacket and much, much more.

10. Worcester Racecourse

You don't have to head to Aintree or Ascot for a day at the races - you can enjoy all the thrills and excitement right here in Worcester. The racecourse runs a packed calendar, with its annual ladies day among its most popular events.
