THE flag at Bromsgrove District Council's Parkside building has been lowered to half-mast as a mark of respect, after two terror attacks in Spain.
A rampaging van driver left 13 people dead and more than 100 wounded in Barcelona yesterday (August 17) after driving through the popular Las Ramblas district.
The country was rocked by a second attack hours later in the seaside town of Cambrils, when five terrorists wearing suicide belts rammed civilians with a car before being shot dead by police.
Seven people, including a police officer, were injured during the incident in Cambrils.
Bromsgrove District Council deputy leader Karen May said: "Once again we are sending our thoughts and prayers to a country which, like Great Britain and too many others, has been subjected to terror attacks.
“Only by showing a united front can we beat this terror which is occurring too often. We must never become complacent and on behalf of the council urge Barcelona and Cambrils to stay stong.”
