THE University of Worcester has sent a message of support to its partner university in Barcelona in the wake of the recent terror atrocity.

Thirteen people were killed in the Spanish city after a driver in a van ploughed into crowds in the popular tourist street Las Ramblas.

The attack which also left 100 people wounded took place on Thursday afternoon.

A second attack in Cambrils, around 70 miles away, has been linked to the Barcelona deaths.

In that case, five terrorists wearing fake suicide vests were shot dead by police yesterday morning. A woman was killed and six others injured in the incident.

The University of Worcester partners with The Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, which is just outside Barcelona.

A spokesman from the University of Worcester said: "We send our condolences to our partner university in Barcelona."
