A CLOCK winder who has been spinning the clock for 50 years was presented with a plaque.
David Saunders, aged 78, goes up the church steps every Thursday at St Peter's Church in Little Comberton.
A plaque will now be at the entrance to the church commemorating his service, whilst he was also presented with a picture frame containing photos of him and the church over the years.
Mr Saunders said: "It is an absolute pleasure and an honour to do it.
"I see it as a community service, as it is a great community here in Little Comberton.
"You can see for miles when you go up and wind the clock, I have taken people up there and it really is amazing.
"I will continue to do it until I no longer can, it helps to keep me physically fit.
"It is a big commitment to do it every week.
"I worked out the other day that I have done 244,400 steps winding the clock.
"I have done it every week for 50 years, except when I was on holiday and I had an arm injury for three weeks.
"People like to hear the clock, I have never heard a complaint about it."
