UNEMPLOYMENT has increased in Malvern Hills from this time last year.
The figures released yesterday (Tuesday, July 17) show the number of people claiming unemployment benefit in the area has increased by 80 to 500, a 19 per cent increase.
The number of 18-24 year olds claiming benefits has also increased by five to 120, a four per cent increase.
However, compared to 2010, the number of people claiming unemployment benefit has decreased by 49 per cent and number of claimants in the 18-24 age bracket has also decreased by 53 per cent.
Mandy Bateman, of Job Centre Plus, said: "We are supporting our customers with IT For The Terrified training, health and safety in the workplace training and 18 to 24 employment skills."
