POLICE investigating an assault in which a teenage girl fought off her attacker have revealed another woman was attacked nearby.

Officers have revealed a man touched a woman inappropriately in two late night incidents in London Road, near to where a teenage girl fought off her attacker in Redhill Lane on Sunday.

Police say they do not believe at this stage that the incidents are linked, but say they are reviewing "previous offending in the geographical area".

In Sunday's assault the teenage girl punched the man who grabbed her from behind and tried to pull her to the floor.

She ran away, and was reportedly unhurt by shaken up following the assault.

The Red Hill Lane assault took place at 8.45am on Sunday morning, and a heavy police presence has been in the area in recent days.

West Mercia Police's update on the investigation also says every possible angle is being considered, and the two previous London Road attacks will be re-examining.

Those attacks happened on June 20 and June 27, the perpetrator running away in both.

Detective Inspector Chris Percival said: “These sorts of incidents are rare in Worcester, and I would like to reassure the public that although we do not believe the incidents on London Road in June and Red Hill Lane in July to be linked, whenever there’s a case of this nature the police will review previous offending in the geographical area.”

The attacker in the Red Hill Lane assault is described as being white, of average build, around 5ft 11in, in his early to mid 20s, with short brown hair slightly longer than a buzz cut.

He was thought to be wearing a blue football-type shirt, which was navy in colour, at the time.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting incident number 195S of July 15.
