BRETFORTON Silver Band, which is more than 100 years old, is in desperate need of a new home.

The band - the only surviving village band left in Worcestershire - has become a victim of their own success having outgrown its band room, and are now urgently seeking land in Bretforton where they can build a purpose designed rehearsal room.

John Wood, the band’s conductor, said: "The 38 musicians squeeze into their present room and it's a logistical nightmare to get everyone in.

"The band also have a thriving learner section, Bret Set Go, which will only increase numbers.

"The band is famous for its annual asparagus auction and their ever popular proms evening, play regularly at local events and have appeared on television many times

"The band is trying to secure their future by investing time and free tuition for new players but we can't do this without the space we need."

The band need a piece of land big enough to house a rehearsal room and adequate car parking.
