PEOPLE going to Worcestershire Pride on Saturday can find out all about fostering in the county.

A team from Worcestershire Fostering, part of Worcestershire County Council, will be manning a stall at the annual event.

Anyone considering fostering will be able to speak to members of the team and ask questions.

Barbara Carter, group manager from Worcestershire County Council, said: "We were at Worcestershire Pride last year for the first time and it went really well.

"There was a great atmosphere."

Andre Oldfield, chair of Worcestershire Pride, said: “I think it’s fantastic that a fostering team will be present again this year.

“The fact that the LGBT community have come this far to foster is wonderful. Anything that can help provide a loving home to young individuals is very worthy.”

Foster carer, George Rogers, added: "Fostering has had such a great impact on my life. I am a long-term single foster parent and would never change that for the world.

"If you don't know what long term fostering is, how to become one or just know someone who fosters, then events such as Worcestershire Pride is a perfect place to find out more so speaking to us at our stall is a great way to start making new friends and build your support network."

In Worcestershire there are currently over 800 children and young people in care. They are spread across a number of different placements including foster carers, children's homes and independent fostering agencies.
