A GROUP will be handing out posters and flyers across Worcester this afternoon in an effort to find 18-year-old Tom Jones.

Police have asked for members of the public to stop searching around the river at this time, while specialist divers carry out their work.

Those who wish to help with the search for Tom can participate in the flyer hand out, and can call Harley Hetherington on 07818783314. The facebook page FIND JONAH! has also been set up by Tom's friends.

Alternatively members of the public can print off some flyers themselves and hand them out.

For anyone out searching today, the search party has been given the riverside centre next to the arena, just by the footbridge for a base. WR2 5JN.

Police are continuing to search for missing Thomas Jones who was last seen close to the River Severn at Worcester Racecourse at approximately 3:30am on Wednesday, 19 September.

Following on from a thorough search of the surrounding area, specialist divers from South Wales Search and Rescue have now been deployed to search the river by Worcester Rowing Club on Grandstand Road.

Detective Inspector Tony Garner from West Mercia Police said: "We continue to search the area for missing Thomas Jones.

"We have had a number of people turning up to assist with the search for which we are very grateful and understand that people are keen to help, however the area close to the river is dark, wet and slippery and poses a risk.

"We had a minor incident yesterday in which our search team had to stop and support the ambulance service as someone had injured themselves while helping with the search.

"In order to prevent this from happening again, we ask that the public stay away at this stage so that our highly trained search divers can work without distraction and continue to conduct a full and thorough search of the river."
