THESE dramatic photos show the scene of a car fire.

The emergency services attended the scene of a car fire today in Hawkwood Crescent, St John’s, Worcester.

One resident, Naomi Lloyd, aged 29, said: “I have never seen anything like it. It was insane.

“To see a car obliterate in front of your eyes is mad.

“There was black smoke everywhere.”

She added: "A man was driving down the road and his engine was smoking heavily.

"He got out and opened the bonnet, leaping back due to the heat and high intensity flames as the whole engine bay was on fire.

"The man who was driving asked us if we had a fire extinguisher. We said no, it’s a 999 you need the fire brigade.

"The fire brigade took about 15 minutes to get here and the car was on fire and it spread all through to the back seats.

"My husband is a mechanic, so he said luckily it was a diesel and not a petrol or it could have exploded. The flames and smoke were huge!

"Everyone was out watching it. The fire brigade came, and it took approximately 30 minutes to put the fire completely out!

"The glass shattered, and the wheels blew up making huge bangs which were very loud.”

Mrs Lloyd, who has a 13-month-old baby girl said she was frightened, adding: "People were running out to see what was going on.

"I could hear neighbours shouting, 'it's going to blow up.'

"The whole engine was on fire. It almost caught fire to the hedges.

"You could see the fire had stopped but then suddenly it started again.

"It's taken us some time to calm down from seeing it.”

It has been reported that nobody was hurt.

Police are clearing the road and the car is being towed away.
