DOGS at the Blue Cross pet re-homing centre in Catshill were packing their bags this week to move to a new part of the building, while their old kennels are being refurbished.

A brand new centre is planned for next autumn, with much needed new facilities on hand including an isolation area to prevent the spread of disease from new animals, puppy and kitten areas where young pets will be able to get used to being around families, refurbished kennel areas and a vet suite to treat local pets whose owners are receiving benefits.

Neil Edwards, centre manager for the Blue Cross in Bromsgrove, said: “We are excited to see the building work begin and can’t wait for our new centre to take shape. We are sure all the dogs currently staying with us will be settled in happy homes by the time the new kennels are built, but there are many more who will need our help. For them the new kennels will mean that their stay with us is as comfortable and stress free as possible.”

A fundraising appeal is underway towards the £1.9m cost of the rebuild. To make a donation or find out how to help with the fundraising activities visit bluecross.org.uk/bromsgrove or call 0300 790 9903.
