A BROMSGROVE building society helped raise thousands for a charity.

The West Bromwich Building Society, in High Street, took part in the Winter Warmer fundraiser held at banks across the region.

Staff at the branch organised a cake and coffee day, which raised £3,700 for the Alzheimer's Society - the society's charity of the year.

Bromsgrove branch manager Steve Perry said: “We had real fun preparing for the event and putting on a tempting spread for our customers who gave so generously throughout the day.

"It was also an opportunity to spread awareness about dementia, which can be particularly challenging for families to cope with at this time of year, and the support channels available to them.”

Ray Nash, from the Alzheimer's Society, said: “We are extremely grateful to the West Brom and their customers for coming together to raise money to support our fight against dementia.

"More than 73,000 people in the West Midlands are affected by dementia and every pound donated helps us provide vital support to them and their carers.”
