A NEW singing group has started in Rubery and anyone with a voice of any standard is being encouraged to come along.

The Rubery Singers, the brainchild of resident Caroline Allen, meet at St Chad's Church on New Road, Rubery, every Tuesday from 7.30pm.

The aim is to have fun as well as eventually perform in public opening the village Christmas lights or any charitable events.

Caroline said the idea came from wanting to do something positive for the community, as well as put Rubery back on a positive note.

"First and foremost is to have fun," she said.

"Singing is a great way of making new friends, lifting your spirits, and bringing the community together.

"All are welcome and we look forward to seeing you."

Caroline has already enlisted the help of Chris Passey, a musical director who has worked with Josh Groban, Russell Watson, Katherine Jenkins as well as providing choirs for BBC Songs Of Praise.
