CHRISTMAS has come early for a community centre in Charford after a £800 donation to help its computer campaign.

The Starlight Café & Community Centre on Humphrey Avenue has been handed the donation by councillor Chris Bloore.

The money will help its ongoing campaign to provide vital IT facilities and equipment for local residents.

Councillor Bloore said: “Starlight is a fantastic local facility and I am really happy to give this money to such a worthwhile cause which benefits so many people.”

The local centre has been helping people get online and providing IT classes for people of all ability levels as part of bdht’s wide-ranging digital initiatives.

This latest investment means Starlight can afford new equipment for both public and group use at the centre.

Darran Moore, manager of Starlight, said: “We’re really grateful to councillor Bloore and would like to thank him for his generous donation.

"The new IT equipment at the centre has been a massive benefit to local residents of all ages and abilities.

"Being able to learn how to use computers and the internet means that our users can gain access to information, service and employment opportunities that would have otherwise been out of reach for them.”
