MOTORISTS are facing delays from Alvechurch after a crash involving a lorry on the M42 northbound.

The M42 Northbound is closed with queueing traffic due to an accident involving a lorry at the link road to M42 North carriageway.

Congestion remains on M42 to J3 A435 (Portway / Redditch).

Traffic using the M42 northbound is having to go onto the M40 Southbound to J16 to turn back on the M40 to rejoin the M42 Northbound.

The diversion runs via the M40 J16, turning around via the roundabout at J16 to re-join the M42 Northbound from the M40.

A spokesman for Highways England said: "The M42 north at J3A closed due to serious collision involving an HGV that requires specialist recovery.

"Please plan ahead and consider alternative routes where possible."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman added: "We were called shortly before 12.30pm to reports of a multi vehicle collision on the northbound carriageway of the M42 near junction 3a.

"One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended and after assessing all motorists that were involved, there were no injuries."
