DISTRICT councillors are investigating problems with school parking in Bromsgrove, and are inviting residents to share their views.

Parking, speed restrictions and enforcement around schools will be under scrutiny in a six-month Road Safety Around Schools Task Group.

The group was set up after councillors raised concerns about reports of dangerous of problem parking outside schools in their wards.

Cllr Chris Bloore, who chairs the task group, said: "We want everyone to be safer around schools, and so we aim to look at all the facts and make some recommendations as to what may be done to tackle the parking problems so many people tell us they are concerned about.

"Areas of concern include abuse of local parking regulations, such as parking on yellow lines, and the perception that there is a lack of enforcement action.

”We would urge anyone who wants to be heard to get in touch with the group by emailing us at democratic@bromsgrove.gov.uk."

Cllrs Rita Dent, Caroline Spencer and Sean Shannon are also members.

The task group will now gather evidence in order to make recommendations on how to improve aspects like the coordination and resourcing of enforcement activities, and how schools and councils communicate about parking hotspots.

A report on the group's findings is expected to be presented to Bromsgrove District Council's Overview and Scrutiny Board in September.
