PERSHORE Carnival will hold an AGM ahead of their 50th anniversary.

Chairman, Colin Shepherd is already starting to think about next year’s carnival despite this year's only happening last month.

Mr Shepherd said: "This year’s carnival was one of the best Pershore has seen for many years.

"We want to build upon this success and make the 50th celebrations even better, but to do so we need a team of people to make it happen.

"Surprisingly many people don’t realise that Pershore Carnival is organised each year by a small group of volunteers who are responsible for all the planning, organising, and fundraising.

"Quite simply without them Pershore wouldn’t have a carnival.

"The planning and fundraising starts almost as soon as the last one finishes.

"However, when you see the crowds lining the streets and the smiles on the children’s faces you know that all the hard work has been worthwhile.

"At the end of this year we will sadly be losing several committee members, so we desperately need new people to come on board.”

The AGM takes place on Monday July 17 at Pershore and District Sports Club, The Bottoms, Defford Road, Pershore.

During the AGM the Pershore Riverside Youth Centre will be presented £1250 collected from the Carnival Street collection.
