CARAVAN holiday homes could soon be coming to a village golf club after plans were submitted to Wychavon District Council.

After buying Great Comberton Golf Club nearly two years ago, Allens Caravans Estates Ltd has submitted plans for 81 caravan holiday homes including two residential units for staff.

Plans were recently submitted to the council, with an open day taking place on Wednesday (August 2) to show off the plans.

Ashton Hall, parks and estates director at Allens Caravans said: "The reaction we got to the plans was mixed, but we had some very positive feedback in there.

"This development will include significant investment in infrastructure and we always use local companies.

"It will create jobs both directly and indirectly.

"We will also invest in the golf course and local businesses will benefit from the development.

"At our other sites, people do normally find that there has been a benefit to the area and we invite villagers to visit one of our other sites to see that.

"We have won 87 conservation awards in the last 11 years."

The proposed development site, near Pershore, comprises an area of approximately 10 hectares bordered to the west by the River Avon, to the north by farmland and to the south and east by rural lanes.

The site has previously been the subject of a planning consent for up to 30 caravans, as well as for storage of touring caravans.

It is estimated that the new development would add another seven jobs.
