EVESHAM residents have slammed a heavily criticised car park for giving out 'unfair' parking fines- insisting that they have paid for parking.

Residents have exclaimed anger at Creative Parking Solutions the owners of the Swan Lane Car Park in Evesham after claiming that they have paid for parking, only for them to still be hit with fines.

Many say even though they have done nothing wrong, their appeals to Civil Enforcement, the company which has issued the fines, fall on deaf ears.

Emma Canning said: "On the 04/01/2017 I entered the Swan Lane Car Park in Evesham.

"I purchased a ticket for £1 from the ticket machine and fully entered my registration and returned the ticket to the car and when on my way.

"Over a month later I received an invoice for £100 demanding I pay as I didn’t buy a ticket.

"At 11.51 a ticket was purchased for 1 hour, £1 with part reg of 65WJE.

"No other car/van/truck entered the car park with a similar reg number.

"I have been in contact with lots of other people on Facebook that have been in the same situation.

"I am appalled this is still allowed to happen and is so unregulated.

"These bully boys are still being given a license to print money from hard working people.”

A response from Civil Enforcement read: "The appellant failed to purchase parking for her vehicle, registration PJ65WJE, as

can be seen from the attached report which shows the vehicles that did purchase parking on the payment machine on the day in question. At 11:51 a payment was made for ‘65WJE’, however, this is not the appellant’s vehicle registration.

"This notice was issued correctly as the driver failed to provide their registration number and, therefore, the system had no way of allocating their payment to their vehicle. In other words, the appellant’s vehicle, registration PJ65WJE, was not authorised to remain parked on site for the said duration of stay."

Sophie Carter another angry resident added: "I was issued a ticket 2 weeks after using the car park. I no longer had the ticket as evidence but you can clearly see my ticket displayed in their photos of evidence.

"There is also CCTV footage over the car park which will confirm that I did buy a ticket and that I was only gone for a short time, certainly not anywhere near the hour I paid for.

"This is causing me huge distress and worry. I wrote an appeal assuming there had been a mistake but it was rejected.

"Following further investigations and discussion with the staff in the superstore next door, I am informed that this is a frequent occurrence.

"Their response to the appeal even states that they have opted out of the ombudsman services which further supports that they are indeed attempting to obtain money from innocent drivers who follow the rules. I am really shocked that this has happened to me as I always purchase tickets for my car.

"However I am even more shocked that this is an ongoing problem and nobody is able to stop what really should be classified as intimidation and attempted theft from our pockets."

A camera system has been introduced at the car park, which means that anyone who enters the wrong registration number is not recognised as parking there, whilst disabled badge holders still have to pay.

This is the latest episode of a saga which has seen residents complaining about the car park for almost three years.

Jonny Routledge, manager of Just for Pets in Evesham has previously said that his shop and the Co-Op store have a five year deal with Creative Car Park to manage the site, as agreed by their landlord and that he had no intention of renewing the deal when it expires this year.
