THIS year’s colourful parade at the popular Stourport Carnival will set off from a new starting point when it takes place in September.
Organisers have announced that the parade featuring a host of floats and marching bands will set off from Redstone Caravan Park, which is based on The Rough.
They said the previous start place on a field was hampered in times of rainy weather, creating problems in particular for vehicles.
Instead, they have arranged with Redstone owner Michael Loveridge for all participants to meet at the caravan site’s car park and set off from there at around 12.30pm on Saturday, September 2.
Pete Roberts, from the carnival committee, said: “We are very grateful to Michael for allowing us to start our parade from Redstone car park.
“Bad weather has caused some problems in the past but this will be far more suitable for us in all weathers.”
He added that they were still appealing for more people to get involved with the event.
Mr Roberts said: “We still have space for more floats and more marching bands to get involved, as well as any vintage car owners.
“And we are encouraging charitable organisations in Stourport to apply for a share of the money we are raising through the event for good causes.”
Anyone interested in taking part or appealing for money raised can contact Carnival committee chairman Russell Hinton on 01299 822886.
