CONCERNS are growing for a missing Kidderminster store manager who has not been seen for almost two weeks.

Matthew Gill, aged 43, was last seen at around 9am on Friday October 6 and despite extensive search efforts from police and his anxious family and friends there have been no sightings of him since.

Mr Gill, known as Liggy, is from Stourbridge but was a member of the management team at B&Q in Kidderminster and had previously worked in the town’s Sainsbury’s store.

Search and rescue teams have been out scouring woodland in the Kinver/Stourton areas in hope of finding Mr Gill but the family say search efforts will now be widened towards the Kidderminster area.

He is believed to have left his home, without his wallet, in his silver coloured Smart Roadster Brabus car which has been recovered from the car park of Petzone, off the A449 at Prestwood, near Stourton, and he is thought to have been wearing a blue Superdry T-shirt.

He had been due to start his shift at B&Q at midday on the Friday that he vanished. Since then he has not contacted his partner and his phone has been switched off.

Relatives said Mr Gill had been “absolutely normal” prior to his disappearance and partner Annette Woodhouse had “kissed him goodbye” as usual as she left him in bed as she went to work.

DC Gail Cartridge, from West Midlands Police's Locate team, said police were "very concerned about Matthew" and his disappearance was "completely out of character".

Mr Gill’s cousin Louise Flanagan said relatives were just “hoping and waiting” for news and she added: “It’s a very difficult time but we're absolutely overwhelmed by the response from the public, from volunteers and the donations we’ve had."

She said 15,000 posters had been printed free of charge by printing companies and she added: "We're so grateful to them."

Anyone with information that could help the investigation is urged to contact the Locate team on 01902 649150 or the charity Missing People on 116 000.

People can keep up to date with the search efforts of Matthew's friends and family on the Facebook page Find Liggy.

Matthew’s brother Andrew Gill has also started a crowdfunding appeal to raise money towards the search and rescue effort.

Andrew said: “Every single penny will go towards the search and rescue effort - then donated to a charity like the air ambulance or some search and rescue charity.”
