REAL ale enthusiasts raised their glasses to celebrate a Kidderminster pub that has been named as one of the best in the country.

Wyre Forest CAMRA made a special presentation to Weavers Real Ale House in Comberton Hill after it was named as one of the top four of the Campaign for Real Ale’s National Pub of the Year competition 2017.

Gary Timmins, Regional Director for the West Midlands Region of CAMRA, made a special presentation and paid tribute to the pub’s friendly team of staff and its customers for making the Weavers “a special and thriving community pub”.

Dean Cartwright, the owner, paid tribute to his staff for “their exceptional knowledge of the beers and ciders on offer”.

A further prestigious accolade, the Bob Jones Memorial Trophy, will be presented to Dean at the Bartons Arms, Birmingham, on 30 December. This is presented annually to the CAMRA West Midlands Region Pub of the Year.

Nick Yarwood, Chairman of Wyre Forest CAMRA, said: “The Weavers represents everything that a good pub should be - friendly, comfortable, popular, a great place for conversation and of course offering superb cask beers and ciders with the added interest of craft beers.

“It was a fantastic evening of celebration with smiles all round. We can’t wait to find out if it will be the Champion Pub of Britain in February when the results will be announced."
