A SELFLESS carnival queen from Stourport is to cut off her beloved locks to support children with cancer.

Antonia Alberone-Chamberlain will be cutting off around 30cm of her long blonde hair in aid of the Little Princess Trust charity.

The 19-year-old, who is the current Stourport Carnival Queen, hopes to raise hundreds of pounds when she does the deed at the town’s Cameo Hair Salon at 1pm on April 13.

Antonia said she is carrying out the fundraiser because she wanted to set a positive example for others.

She was first inspired by YouTube star and singer Carrie Hope Fletcher, who previously donated her hair to the charity.

Antonia hopes to raise £350, which is the cost of making one wig.

The Little Princess Trust provides free real hair wigs to children suffering from hair loss after cancer treatment.

Antonia said: “I am Stourport Carnival Queen and I wanted to do something amazing while it's my year with the title.

“While cutting my lovely long locks off may seem easy but it will mean the world to a child with cancer who gets a beautiful wig out of it.

“I’m feeling very nervous about the 13th but more excited as it gets closer. I know it’s going to a great cause and Cameos will do an awesome job at making me look just a good with short hair too.”
