THE county is getting ready for more snow as the Met Office confirms that a significant fall is expected tomorrow (Sunday).

The forecast predicts frost settling in this evening, During the early hours it will become increasingly breezy with outbreaks of snow spreading northwards across the region, giving some significant accumulations in places by morning. Minimum temperature -5 C.

Sunday will stay breezy with outbreaks of snow persisting for much of the day. Some large accumulations of snow are likely in places, with the potential for some disruption. Maximum temperature 4 C.

The county council gritting fleet has been out today spreading a saline solution (brine) rather than dry salt - this goes to work de-icing faster and also sticks to the road surface.

A spokesman said: "It is however not always visible that roads have been treated - rest assured we're out there.

"Please don't travel later unless you have to. If you do, please take extreme caution even when roads are treated."
