EVER wondered what it was like to live in Alcester in the good old days?
Well now you can relive that golden era, the 1950s and 60s, lead through the bunting-lined streets by one of the town's leading ladies.
The former Alcester Mayoress and former Alcester In Bloom chairman Maggie Payne has written a book called Alcester… My early Days.
In the book, published by Brewin Books of Studley, the Alcester resident recalls High Street shops, school life in the town, activities of by-gone era, Alcester Cadets, and much more.
Mrs Payne said: "I have recently been writing about old Alcester since many old, and new, friends are always inquiring how life was in the 50s and 60s."
Alcester… My early Days, by Maggie Payne, is available at Humphries Shoe Shop in Alcester.
