THE Kingfisher Shopping Centre will be part of a fire and rescue training exercise with Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.

Taking place on Monday, March 12 the activity will run from 7pm – 9pm involving five fire engines, aerial ladder platform and 25 firefighters.

The exercise, which will be carried out in Car Park 4, has been arranged following the recent fire in the Liverpool Echo Arena cark park were 1,400 vehicles and multi-storey were severely damaged.

Driven by Watch Commander Simon Link from Redditch Fire Station in collaboration with  Kingfisher, the exercise has been designed to help the Fire and Rescue Service practise their procedures for dealing with a similar incident in any multi-storey car park.

Fiona Faizey, from the Kingfisher, said: “Safety is of primary importance to us as a centre, so we’re proud to be able to offer the Kingfisher as a location for the Fire Service to carry out this exercise.

“We’re honoured to work jointly will the Fire and Rescue Service on a regular basis to pre-plan and implement procedures to ensure the safety of our customers and staff on site at all times.”
