THE popular Remembering the 40s Day returns to Redditch’s Forge Mill Needle Museum this Sunday (May 20) with a new aquatic attraction at the mill pond.

A display of model boats from the era will be held by Little Radford Model Boat Club, which will be making its first appearance at the annual Second World War-themed day.

Children will be able to have a go at crafting their own paper boats too.

There will be a live period soundtrack by Indigo Arts and The Violettes at the event, alongside opportunities to find out more about life in the 1940s with costumed characters, re-enactments, and displays including vehicles from the military as well as the famous Austin Ten.

Debbie Lakeman, from Forge Mill said: “We’re all set for a fantastic event this weekend and this year we’re looking forward to seeing the mill pond put to use for the boats.

"The weather looks like it will be good too, so pop down and enjoy a trip back in time for all the family.”

Museum entrance is included in the price of the event which is £1 for children and £3 for adults and runs from 11am to 4pm.

Refreshments will be available at the coffee bar.
