REDDITCH residents filled a whopping 396 bags of unwanted clothes to help raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Slimming World members in Redditch held a stall at the Tesco on Coldfield Drive, on Saturday, May 12, for its members and residents to donate their unwanted clothes to.

The event was part of the group's Big Clothes Throw, which is marked by Slimming World Group across the country.

All of the clothes will be donated to Cancer Research UK so they can sell them at their charity shops to raise money.

Claire Jackson, who runs the Crabbs Cross Slimming World group and has helped to organise the event, said: "It was a huge success.

"We collected a whooping 396 bags on the day with additional bags being collected this week. Each bag is worth around £25 which is equivalent to £9,900.

"Slimming World members have bagged up their clothes they’ve successfully slimmed out of to donate to Cancer Research UK.

"On behalf of myself and team Redditch we would like to thank all our members for supporting CRUK on their weight loss journey."

Claire also added thanks to Tesco Extra for allowing them to use the car park as base, Janice Darcy and Nick Webster from Cancer Research, Slimming World members, and residents who donated their clothes.
