A CHARITY that works with the NHS to transport vital medical supplies has won the backing of Tenbury Mayor Mark Willis.
He has chosen the Severn Freewheelers, also known as ‘Blood Bikers’ as his Mayoral Charity for the coming year.
The group is made up of volunteers who transport blood, drugs, medical supplies and documentation where it is needed.
“They are dependent upon voluntary funding and do excellent and vital work,” said Mark Willis.
In the past Mark Willis has supported the Tenbury No Interest Loans Scheme and Tenbury Swimming Pool.
Each year the mayor chooses a charity to support during period in office with different fund raising activities.
Groups that have benefited in Tenbury in the past include youth organisations and a charity that helps to preserve old buildings.
