THE future of live theatre looks bright if the leads of the Regal’s next production is anything to go by.

Tenbury’s community musical opens on Saturday, July 29, and the show’s famous lead roles are played by four local young actors who according to the show’s director have energy to burn!

The lead role of Oliver Twist, the orphan boy who finds his way to London only to fall in with the wrong crowd is jointly played by Oscar Yeoh and Dexter Williams and the Artful Dodger, the loveable rogue who introduces Oliver to the villain of the piece Fagin is shared by Barney Green and Joshua Dyer.

All four boys are no strangers to the stage having appeared in stage shows, pantomimes and are all pupils of the Regal’s Musical Theatre School.

“The rehearsal schedule has been quite full-on and even after a couple of hours of dancing and singing, the kids chorus run around yelling and shouting - we don’t know where they get the energy!” said Jack Ludwig, choreographer and vocal coach for the show.

“They’ve all worked so hard and it will be great to see them up there on stage. Some of the cast have not been in front of a large audience before but now The Regal has kick-started community shows, a lot more people will get that opportunity.”

Oliver opens on Saturday, July 29 and runs until Saturday, August 5, as part of the venue's 80th birthday celebrations.
