A FORMER serviceman from Malvern will be undertaking his latest fundraising challenge next week - walking the length of Offa's Dyke.

In recent years, Paul Morton has carried out a number of fundraising feats, which have ranged from carrying a fireman's dummy across the Brecon Beacons to scaling the three highest peaks in Wales in a day.

Now he aims to hike the whole of Offa’s Dyke, 285 km over a five-day period whilst sleeping rough, starting on Friday, July 7.

Offa’s Dyke is the natural boundary between England and Wales which runs 285 km from Sedbury near Chepstow to Prestatyn in North Wales.

This is an arduous undertaking, with the total elevation he will climb during the five days being more than 9,000 metres, greater than the height of Everest.

He will be raising money for Supporting Wounded Veterans, which helps servicemen re-integrate into society.

He said: "The charity enables those who are either physically or mentally injured because of military service to rebuild their lives, return to the work place and provide long-term security for themselves and their families."

For this challenge, Mr Morton is being joined by Mathew Hymas who is raising funds for the Holdings Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Kempsey.
