EFFORTS to get a home makeover for a mother looking to get her son home two years after a horror quad bike crash have left her 'overwhelmed.'

Following news of 60 Minute Makeover coming to Worcester, dozens of people nominated Janie Ferrier to ITV to help her finally get her son home.

Nick Ferrier 24, has spent more than two years in hospital and care since his quad crash in Green Lane, Worcester, back in March 2015 left him with serious head injuries.

His mother, Jane Ferrier has applied to Fortis Living to get a house transfer so that she can have a home with enough space for her son to live in.

She has this week been offered to look around a home in Fairfield Close close by to her current house in Oak Avenue, Brickfields and next week, the house will be assessed to see if it can be adapted to Mr Ferrier's needs.

60 Minute Makeover which is hosted by Peter Andre, sees a team of workers revamp homes in need of a lift - all within just 60 minutes.

The show targets local heroes who deserve a treat and makeovers their home as a surprise and is currently casting in the Worcester area.

Mrs Ferrier praised the support she had received, particularly from the 'Help Get Nick Home' campaign.

Mrs Ferrier said: "I am overwhelmed by the support I have received from people saying that they have voted for me, many of which I do not know, it is really nice to see.

"A house has been found that could possibly work and whilst we have not looked at it yet, I have seen one of the neighbour's houses and it would be perfect.

"It is much wider and it would be possible to expand onto the patio to get a bedroom for Nick, it is only five minutes away (from her current house).

"I have my fingers and toes crossed that it is suitable."

Mrs Ferrier has previously said that her current house is not wide enough for Mr Ferrier to fit his wheelchair through the door.

Following the injury, Mr Ferrier was cared for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Birmingham before he was moved to Leamington in March 2016 and he is currently cared for in Pirton Grange Care Home in Wadborough.

Mrs Ferrier's aunt, Thelma Room said: "If anybody deserves this it is Janie, she has had a tough couple of years.

"She lost her mother, my sister, not long before Nick's accident and so she was still reeling from that.

"She has had to drive backwards and forwards to Birmingham, Leamington and now Pirton Grange to see Nick, all whilst holding down a full time job as she has three other children including a 12-year-old to care for.

"She had to read a number of unpleasant comments on Facebook after the accident.

"Her current house is not suitable for adaption but she has had some good news that she is now number one in the list for a new house."
