PROTESTORS will meet in Worcester to call for more resources to be given to the NHS.

A "Defend the NHS" activity on Saturday will take place from 11am to 1pm in Broad Street.

There will also be a public meeting called NHS SOS on Tuesday May 22 at 7pm in St Andrew's Methodist Church in Pump Street, Worcester.

The main speaker will be Tower Hamlets GP, Youssef El-Gingihy.

A spokesman for the event said: "He will outline to you how our NHS will shortly no longer be a public service free

at the point of access.

"Already it is being handed over to profiteers. Do you want to pay a fee when you visit your GP for example?

"This conversion to a private market system is now accelerating, increasing NHS costs unnecessarily. The future likelihood is of an insurance system based on the American model that ruins families."
