DRUG and drinker drivers have been arrested during what has been a busy night for the emergency services.
A drink driver was arrested at junction four of the M5 and found with cocaine and cannabis. The driver also had no MOT or insurance, the Worcestershire Operations Patrol Unit confirmed.
OPU Worcestershire (team C) was involved in a pursuit in Kidderminster during which a number of vehicles and drugs were seized.
A spokesperson for OPU Worcestershire said of one driver they caught on Twitter: “Cannabis was also located in the vehicle. The driver was arrested but failed to provide a blood specimen at custody and charged to court.”
Officers said of another driver they stopped: “Driver of an Audi tried to avoid us in Wythall, maybe because he was under the influence of cannabis and cocaine.”
Meanwhile, firefighters tackled a blaze behind a changing room building at Dukes Meadow Playing Field, Poundbank Road, Malvern at 5.44am.
One hose reel was used to put the fire out. A thermal image camera and ladder were used to check for fire spread and the surrounding area damped down.
