A SERIAL thief stole a bike and could not remember what he did with it.

James Gibson, 38, of Arboretum Road, Worcester stole a bike belonging to Simon Casey from Droitwich Spa Railway Station.

Gibson has previously been sentenced for 75 different thefts over a number of years.

Colette Orton, prosecuting, said: "Mr Casey left his bike at the station in the cycle racks at 7.30am in the morning. He was in a rush so he doesn't remember if he locked it up properly. When he came back at about 6 o'clock he realised that it had been taken along with the chain.

"Mr Gibson was identified on CCTV and he made a full admission. He said he could not remember what he did with it.

"He has a long history of theft and dishonesty."

Paul Stanley, defending, said Gibson had recently come out of prison after his suspended sentence was activated but that this offence pre-dates his prison time.

He was ordered to pay £400 to Simon Casey, taking his overall court debts to over £1,000. He was not told to pay costs and was given a conditional discharge.

He was released on Friday April 20 and is on license until Sunday July 1, he is on post sentence supervision until April 2019.

Gibson appeared in court on Thursday May 17.
