THE show for early flowering chrysanthemums was held at our new venue of Burcot Garden Centre, Bromsgrove, and, despite one of the latest seasons in memory, was considered to be quite successful.

Seven members exhibited a total of 23 entries. This equated to 32 vases and a total of 118 blooms. Of the five trophies available, four were contested and were won by Chris Amphlett, of Worcester, Sid Webb, Dudley, and two new members from the Cotswold area – George Proverbs and Cliff Arnold – who also achieved the most points in the show.

Due to the very late season, no flowers of the spray types were shown. The show was judged by Paul Edmunds, of Nuneaton, who has been judging the society’s shows for many years.

The society would like to thank the proprietors for their help and willingness to allow the show to be held there.

The next show for the greenhouse flowerier varieties will be held on Saturday,November 9, at the same venue.
