MEMBERS of the Bromsgrove Branch of the University of the Third Age (U3A) were given a most interesting illustrated talk by David Fletcher about the Arctic and the changes that are happening in this region. This is the third talk in David’s trilogy about the polar regions and included the latest opinions about the region, whichhehasbeentravelling to for the last 47 years, and had only recently returned form his latest trip.

We are continuing our series introducing the various specialist groups that cater to members’ interests – this time it is about the rambling groupwhohave a leader who is an experienced rambler to guide them on the wide variety of monthly walks through the Worcestershire countryside. The pace is set by the leader to accommodate the differing walking skills and there is another skilled rambler bringing up the rear to ensure nobody gets left behind. This is a chance to enjoy the countryside – the walks are a maximum of four miles – as well as to socialise with other members who have a similar interest. No specialised equipment is needed – just strong walking shoes.
