AT the meeting in November, Pamela Seal from Focus on Blindness gave a talk on the work of the charity.

In addition to explaining a little about its history and current work in the Birmingham area, she showed a collection of aids to independent living used by blind and partially sighted people.

Through using specially adapted spectacles, members were able to simulate different types of sight problems and so realise how difficult it can be for many people to cope with the everyday demands of life.

In December, there was a visit to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, which was most interesting.

We are a group of retired or semi- retired professional women who meet once a month for lunch and a chat.
