THE latest speaker in the current term was Ashley Grove with his talk entitled Shetland to Scilly – Birds of the British Isles, together with slides of these birds.

He took members on a tour of the British Isles and in each region, he showed examples of the different birdlife that can be experienced in the region concerned.

The series to introduce the various specialist groups that cater for the members’ varied interests continues – this time it is the Bowls Group.

They meet every week at a local green where they cater for all levels of experience and expertise.

By it’s nature, bowls is very much a social activity, so it is always an enjoyable experience together with a competitive edge to the games as, although winning is not the be-all and end-all, there is satisfaction in achieving success.

The more experienced players are always willing to impart advice and guidance to those less experienced.
