Sisters moonlight for charity
Sisters Alice Watts, left, and Hannah Gordon are preparing for a midnight walk wearing decorated bras for breast cancer charities.
Sisters Alice Watts, left, and Hannah Gordon are preparing for a midnight walk wearing decorated bras for breast cancer charities.

TWO sisters from Worcester will be swapping their high heels for walking boots when they take part in a moonlit walk around the capital city.

Alice Watts, aged 25, and Hannah Gordon, 28, are preparing to take part in a marathon walk around London at night, while wearing decorated bras.

The pair, who are both charity workers, one for Leukaemia CARE in Worcester and the other for Age Concern, will be joining 15,000 others taking part in the Playtex Moonwalk to raise cash for breast cancer charities on Saturday, May 17.

Mrs Gordon, who used to live in St John's but now lives in London, said they had taken part in a 5km run for Leukaemia CARE last year.

She said: "We wanted a bigger challenge but at a slower pace. I wasn't keen to begin with but, through sibling persuasion, Alice managed to convince me."

They are walking not just for health and fitness, but for personal reasons. Miss Watts, of Rainbow Hill, said: "Virtually every family in the country has been affected by breast cancer, including ours. It's now the most common cancer in the UK, with more than 100 women being diagnosed every day. We hope to raise at least £1,000 but if we can do even more then that's fantastic.

"It's going to be a tough challenge but we will be able to motivate each other enough to get through it. I'm sure we've got through worse together," she said.
