Cigarette thieves hunted
CIGARETTES worth £1,743 have been stolen from a lorry parked outside a Worcestershire Post Office.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the cigarettes were stolen from a lorry delivering to the Post Office in Main Street, Bretforton, near Evesham, yesterday.
The lorry driver was unloading goods at 8.45am from the green Volvo van into the store, and was inside the building when two men were seen unloading cigarettes from the back of the vehicle.
The men stole £1,743 worth of boxed cigarettes and escaped in what is thought to be a silver hatchback car.
Sergeant Di Summerton said: "We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at this busy time of day and saw anything suspicious.
"We would also like anyone who was travelling along any of the main roads near to the post office to think back as to whether they saw a vehicle matching the description travelling in the direction of, or away from, the Post Office."
Anyone with information is asked to call Evesham Police on 08457 444 888, quoting 96/S/150508, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

With the price of ciggies now over £5 a packet, I wouldn't expect DI Summerton to be inudated with phone calls !
