Amazing result

How amazing that a party with little chance of ever being elected (The Lib/Dems) is now running the country.

Control your dog

7:40am Tuesday 24th August 2010

Like the lady who wrote recently, I too have had a problem with a dog not being kept under control. The incident occurred on June 6 at the Whitford Road end of Sanders Park in Bromsgrove. I noticed a car pull up, a woman got out and opened the door for her dog. She didn’t attempt to put a lead on this dog, but just let it jump out and run. I kept watching both the dog and the woman and she was just ambling along completely oblivious to what the dog was doing. Her dog then spotted mine and made straight for us.

Third World town

Several of your readers have commented on the state of the Saltway along the side of the health centre where barriers have blocked part of the road since the health centre was built.

Let’s hear it for the boys

2:46pm Monday 23rd August 2010

Having read the letters about the Kids Army Shop and having taken my boys out to various public places the last week or so, I feel compelled to write about the undercurrents of negativity surrounding boys in our culture. Boys are so often frowned upon and labelled as ‘troublemakers’, ‘naughty’ or worse simply because they are following their instincts and doing what boys need to do. Boys need to have adventure, they need to learn to take risks, they need challenge, danger and competition, they need to build dens, climb trees and be physically active. They need to play creatively, inventing games, challenges and equipment. Playing ‘war’ games is part of this vital development. Giving a boy a toy weapon will not turn him into a violent, gun-wielding mass murderer, rather (with the right guidance from parents) will teach him to create situations in which he can learn all those important ingredients that will turn him into a man who is a valuable contribution to our society.

Anger over hedge

2:47pm Monday 23rd August 2010

I HAVE recently received a letter from Worcestershire County Council asking me to cut back the hedge on my side of an alleyway as it was causing a hazard.

Cavalier attitude

7:10am Saturday 14th August 2010

IN reply to the letter from a concerned parent criticising the residents of The Flats who have supported the provision of the new schools in Bromsgrave, but not the positioning of Meadows/Parkside so close to residential properties. Our concerns are with BAM who have knowingly flaunted the planning regulations to the detriment of local residents, failing to acquire planning permission for the lighting and a number of structures on the sites. Bromsgrove Council’s enforcement officer is in discussions with BAM to get them to apply for retrospective planning permission. If this fails he can issue an enforcement order to have the structures removed. If the parent had attended the meeting of Bromsgrove Councils planning committee on July 12, he/she would have gained an in-sight into the way BAM conduct their business.

Inconsiderate actions

7:10am Saturday 14th August 2010

Reading the letter written by the concerned parent from Meadows/Parkside school I feel their concerns would be better directed towards the safety of the children entering and leaving the school.

Many thanks

7:10am Friday 13th August 2010

I WOULD like to take this opportunity of thanking the staff at Morrisons, Rubery, who permitted the British Retinitis Pigmentosa Society (RP – Fighting Blindness) to hold collections at their store on July 24 and 25.

Post box attack

7:10am Friday 13th August 2010

I WOULD recommend to the idiots that removed the Post Office collection box from its mounting, complete with mail, at the Manor Oaks Droitwich postal point, dumping it into the stream where it lay submerged in the water that they seek medical/mental advice fairly soon, for who knows what they are capable of next. This postal box and its contents remained in the water for days despite the Post Office and other agencies being aware of what I consider to be a serious matter.

Excellent value for money

MAY I respond to the letter from Richard Hill regarding the abolition of quangos.
