I AM writing in response to the article expressing a mother’s concern over her child’s safety at Charford First School.

As a parent of two children attending the school over the last eight years, I am delighted to say that in my opinion the school takes the utmost care of its pupils.

In our world of concrete, metal and corners, occasional accidents are bound to happen – that is all part of growing up and learning to judge risks. When my son cut his head in the school playground, the caring firstaiders cleaned the wound and rapidly applied Steristrips.

When they tried to contact us and neither parent was immediately available, they took a precautionary approach and called for an ambulance as he was feeling sick and dizzy.

At A&E the doctor commented on what a wonderful job the first-aider had done and decided to leave the Steristrips in place rather than stitch the cut.

I can also vouch for the vigilance of the staff, at the end of every day, in handing over each child individually to a parent or carer who they recognise (or have been prewarned to expect).

I am proud to be a parent of Charford First School and have every confidence that its wonderful staff take care of all my child’s needs.
