I WISH to thank staff and pupils of Witton Middle School, Droitwich, for supporting my daughter in raising awareness of a genetic condition she has, Neurofibromatosis 1, a condition whereby tumours grow on nerve endings anywhere in or on the body.
It is alarming that most people, including many health professionals, have not heard of Neurofibromatosis (NF1), particularly as it is one of the most common genetic disorders.
About 25,000 people in the UK have Neurofibromatosis, which is more common than cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy and Huntington’s put together.
And like them, there is no cure.
On June 13, the school ran a mad hair day raising more than £200 for Neuro Foundation Charity, also allowing my daughter to have a question and answer session to educate others on this condition.
Thank you for making Ella feel valued and supported.
