HERE in Romsley village I feel to get better public services, there should be a rethink on removing the word village to more appropriate like, town?

Why town, well a town has its own shops, defined boundaries, it is a built up area with more than 500 houses, businesses, pubs, schools, has a local council, now all that describes a town NOT a village, just like Romsley.

How can you call Romsley a village when narrow lanes are used by a regular bus service, local farm is now like an industrial estate encouraging large thundering trucks also using the narrow lanes. A large grocery store appears in the village in a narrow road, that attracts customers with no where to park because no thought went into the planning...For the past three years we have seen extra housing shoe-horned in against existing properties but eight metres away.

We should have got money through the homes bonus scheme for allowing these extra houses according to Eric Pickles, but Bromsgrove District Council have gone for option 2 in keeping the £650,000 for their own (in no doubt ) election campaigning reserves.

Furthermore, if the money had been spent in the way it was devised there would have been no need to increase the council tax.?

So whilst the word village is used to decide on the style, the area is not given or getting the attention a town would have, like roads without potholes in them, school safety crossings that villagers are ignored on, car parking FACILITIES that stops grass verges from being ruined, parked cars now see wing mirrors taken off due to increased traffic through the village as its the only route from Hagley areas.

If junction 3 and 4 on the M5 is closed then all traffic comes through Romsley..and quite honestly the roads take quite a bashing AND don’t even mention speeding vehicles that we hope will soon be addressed by a local police presence on our local roads that’s been trialled/devised by the local police commissioner in other areas.

How do we get better roads and school crossings, well we seem to still do it the archaic way and that is ask your local county councillor.

But why do we have to do this when we pay hundreds of staff at Worcester County council to ensure we get safety outside our schools and roads we can drive upon.We have paid our council tax money twice here this year in Romsley, despite the 2.9 per cent increase to local parish council and a1.9 per cent increase to the district council, so how about some public services. So I put to Councillor Rachel Jenkins, you got yourself elected on an issue that fell flat on its face that many other county council candidates knew the history on, so try to make up for it by being a councillor that delivers the service people want and have paid for....standing on a Hagley housing issue that Eric Pickles can easily over rule and all candidates knew this, is cheap electioneering.
